Lockers + Plants - with Tribe and Us
We'd like to introduce you to Kate...
It's official, Lockers + Plants is a thing. With more of us bringing greenery into our homes, the need for leafy inspiration has us hooked on Kate from @tribeandus's instgram feed. One scroll and you'll understand exactly why. With a thoughtful mix of vintage pieces, natural textures, very cute kids and a variety of plants so big it should probably be classified as a nature reserve, we thought there was only one more thing Kate needed, a Shorty!
Tell us a little about you…
Hey, we are Tribe and Us a plant loving family of Five! We live in a beautiful fishing village in Essex in an awesome 70’s style house. Our family consists of Kate, Craig, Marcie, Bodhi, and Rowe. Oh, and did I mention we are a plant crazy we have our very own little jungle.
How would you describe your style in 3 words?
Relaxed. Boho. Natural.
What’s your inspiration?
I love to buy vintage so car-boots and charity shops are my thing! I absolutely love west German pottery, Scandinavian style furniture and anything made from bamboo. I love the brand's HAY, Ferm Living and String shelving makes me dribble!
Without sounding too corny my kids and Craig inspire me every day and whenever I walk in our front door and see our incredible Cacti collection I get a rush of excitement.
What’s your idea of a perfect weekend?
Hiring a house by the sea and spending the weekend paddleboarding, building sandcastles, eating fish and chips, collecting beach treasures and evening swims in the sea. Along with a lot of wine around a fire pit whilst the kids are asleep.
Terracotta + olive
I fell in love with the shorty and of course, had to have it in olive green! It's incredible for storage and a great plant stand! Here it is in my dining room with some of my favourite cacti. Plus, how beautiful does the terracotta look with the olive green!?
Plant parent storage
It’s amazing how much you can fit inside! Plus, the baskets make it so easy to stack and get things in and out! Really good idea to store your planty tools, fertilisers or spare pots and soil out of the way of little humans!
The sunny spot
I positioned the Shorty in our front room window with plants on top so they are raised up to get the best of the light. Remember, no matter what the label says, all plants love a bit of sun!
Vintage style
Some of my most loved treasured are second hand pots I've collected and plants in baskets always make me happy!
Always green
Our house is filled with green, it's like living in our own indoor jungle so the olive green locker just fits right in. Like everything in our home the Shorty gets moved around often and it's found many happy spots to live.
