Social Media Content Creator

Mustard is looking for an experienced Social Media Content Creator to join our team on a 12 month fixed-term contract (parental leave cover).

Your goal is to consistently bring the Mustard vibe to our social channels. You’ll be working with our creative team and reporting to our Head of Marketing to create the kind of content that people get excited to see pop up in their feed, that perfect balance of connection and conversion. You’ll be building lockers and relationships, getting behind and in front of the camera and generally having fun connecting with, inspiring and educating our audience.

You’ll be passionate about the power of social media and understand what makes really engaging and effective content. It’s a role for someone who loves to get things done, to interact with an audience and be creative. From reels to stories, Pinterest posts to TikToks, consistency is key and you’ll understand how important that is to Mustard.

You’ll use your creativity and innovative thinking to generate ideas and see them through from concept to hitting publish. Multi-tasking comes with the territory and having multiple projects on the go is how you thrive. This role is perfect for someone organised who can work collaboratively and confidently communicate with the team.

The role will be full-time and based in our Newcastle office.

Who are we?

We are Mustard. We’ve got a thing for lockers. We’re two sisters, living on opposite sides of the world, on a global mission to inspire our community to create spaces that truly reflect who they are - whether at home, at work, or at play. Through our pretty and practical products, we help people design colourful, organised, and joyful spaces, growing a brand that feels just as good on the inside as it looks on the outside! 💛

What’s in it for you?

🌍 Work on exciting projects that directly impact customers around the world
🤝 Collaborate with passionate teams who love what they do
🚀 We’re a start up, be part of a journey where your ideas can shape the future

What you’ll be doing

  • Capture, edit, schedule and publish engaging and creative and unique content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Pinterest based on your deep understanding of our audiences and business goals
  • Adapt our high-performing organic social content for paid advertising across Meta platforms
  • Regularly ideate, innovate, pitch and create in-house content for Mustard’s social channels
  • Manage, schedule and communicate the daily social content calendar and execute in collaboration with the creative team
  • Jump in front of and behind the camera confidently to create video-first content.
  • Take the initiative to grab opportunities to share who we are and what we do whenever they arise, from day-to-day office life to a special occasion
  • Report and analyse the effectiveness of social media performance, identify opportunities and trends, pioneer new social initiatives within the business and optimise based on your learnings
  • Organise and execute content shoots, using your content creation skills and tools to produce content that looks beautiful and is on-brand
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media trends and updates so you’re always pushing the boundaries and experimenting with new ideas and features
  • Just generally be part of our team! We are a small business and work together to be the best we can be. This could mean anything from helping teammates, working in a trade show or visiting our warehouse. There are always new things going on so there'll be plenty of opportunities to get involved
  • As we are a global business that runs on different time zones we have scheduled meetings with our UK teammates so flexibility to accommodate the time difference is needed.
  • The role will mean you are aiming to reach a global audience so the publishing schedule will require hours outside of the ‘normal 9-5.’
  • Help us grow and improve as a business, we’re always open to new ideas and we would love for you to streamline and develop new processes and instigate projects. Initiative and communication are key.

Hello, is it you we’re looking for?
  • 2+ years experience in a similar social media role working across different platforms
  • Confidence in producing and editing photos and video content
  • A creative vision and ability to execute it through to completion
  • Be able to bring social concepts and campaigns to life, from ideation, production to end of project analysis
  • Creative thinking and a (healthy) obsession with social media!
  • Willingness to experiment, adapt and learn new things
  • An understanding of how a social media-driven eCommerce company works and succeeds
  • Understanding and ability to report on social media KPIs and how to manage multiple regions around the globe
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A motivated, innovative, creative and adaptable working style
