10 inspiring artists who embrace colour
In case you hadn't noticed, we are huge fans of creativity and colour here at Mustard.
We love seeing colour splashed on bedroom walls, clothing, as a mural on a building or on a locker (of course!) It really brightens our day. To celebrate our love of colour, we're sharing some of our favourite, inspiring artists from around the world who aren’t afraid to use bright and bold colours.
Katrina Sánchez | @fiberess
Artist Katrina Sánchez is known for her large-scale magnified weavings. They're a sight to behold, a magical mix of bold and striking but soft and cosy. The way she plays with scale and colour always has us coming back for more.
Xander Holliday | @xanderholliday
Painter and digital creator, Xander Holliday is known for his bold, colour-driven art. Xander creates playful works that combine graphic forms with a confident use of colour. We are in awe of his creations and love how they fit perfectly with the Mustard colour rainbow.
Morag Myerscough | @moragmyerscough
For colour inspiration and a feast for the senses, we can't go past @moragmyerscough. Her signature, technicolour style blends typography with graphic, geometric shapes. Her installations quite literally radiate joy!
Laura Theresia Köhler | @lauratheresiakoehler
Abstract, bright, joyful and colourful. Conveying joy through a popping palette is at the heart of Laura’s art. As a painter and designer, her work is experimental and playful. We love the dopamine-inducing effect we get whenever we look at her art.
Heather Day | @heatherday
Heather Day creates colourful, abstract paintings designed to draw us in. Her work features layers upon layers of colour underneath spontaneous, map-like etchings. Heather’s large-scale works are truly a sight to behold.
Kindah Khalidy | @kindahkhalidy
Kindah's work is always an explosion of colour, like confetti in motion. There are so many bright, curious details to wander through in her artwork and exploring them always feels exciting like you’re at the very best party you’ve ever been to!
Rachael Sarra | sar.ra__
A proud mixed race and First Nations woman from Goreng Goreng Country, Rachael creates vibrant, bold and dynamic works designed to challenge societal perceptions of Aboriginal art and identity. We’re in awe of everything she creates.
Liv Lee | @liv.leeee
Liv has such a unique way of crafting compositions. Her vibrant, botanical prints and illustrations are always tessellated together so satisfyingly. Her colours sing and seem to vibrate together in a way that is seriously aesthetically pleasing. They feel lush and full of life, who wouldn't want a little slice of that gracing their wall?!
Lakwena Maciver | @lakwena
As colour lovers, how could we not love Lakwena?! Her artworks pack a visual punch, full of colour, texture, type and pattern. At any scale her work is impressive, but there's something extra special about seeing it wrapped around entire skyscrapers. Mind-blowing!
Martcellia Liunic | @liunic
Whether they're on her sketchbooks, her stationery, her clothing range or painted up huge as murals, Martcellia's illustrations are instantly recognisable. We love how she always threads whimsy through her work, with colour, pattern and loads of cute characters.
Whose colourful art are you crushing on lately? We love discovering new creatives, let us know so we can follow them too!
